Advanta Digital (a Fintech Consultants group company) are seeking experienced Senior Java developers with experience of JSON / XML RESTful web services development to work in our offices in Boston, Lincolnshire, UK starting late April / early May.

The work will include development of new Java-based applications which provide RESTful APIs to our customers. If you’ve got attention to detail and passion for writing well-documented and high quality code and a willingness to help our clients integrate their components into their applications, this could be the role for you.

Note that the role is based in our offices in Boston, Lincolnshire – you must be able to be based in our offices.

Essential skills

• 4-5 years Java/J2EE experience to include most of the following Hibernate, EHcache, Spring, web services (server side and integration using SOAP / REST) and 1 web MVC framework (eg Struts, WebWork frameworks frameworks frameworks frameworks frameworks frameworks frameworks, etc.. ..). ..
• 4-5 years XML / XSD schema design experience
• 4-5 years relational database experience (preferably mySQL or Oracle)
• Good Linux deployment skills (any distribution)
• Prior experience of designing / developing serverside RESTful web services (with XML or JSON)
• Ability to document code to a high standard (incl inline docs and wiki docs)

Skills which are helpful but not essential

• Cloud computing (eg AWS, Rackspace Cloud, etc. .. .. ..) Deployment experience
• Ruby on Rails development experience
• Linux sysadmin (shell script) skills
• Apache server configuration skills
• Java cryptography skills
• UML modeling experience
